Social Security Pays Big for Families on March 19—Are You Eligible?

Millions of American families rely on Social Security benefits to help cover essential expenses like housing, food, and medical care.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) follows a staggered payment schedule each month, and for March 2025, the next round of payments will be distributed on Wednesday, March 19.

While many retirees will receive their expected payments, Social Security also provides important financial support to families, including spouses, children, and survivors.

These benefits ensure that dependents of retired or deceased workers have a stable source of income.

Who Will Receive Payments?

Payments are issued based on birth dates:

  • March 12 – Birthdays between the 1st and 10th
  • March 19 – Birthdays between the 11th and 20th
  • March 26 – Birthdays between the 21st and 31st

Family Benefits Under Social Security

Social Security supports not just retirees but also spouses, children, and survivors:

  • Survivor Benefits – A spouse can receive up to 50% of the worker’s benefit.
  • Child Benefits – Children and widowed spouses may qualify for ongoing support.
  • SSI Support – Minor children (or those with disabilities) can receive monthly payments if a parent is retired, disabled, or deceased.

How Much Will You Get?

In 2025, Social Security benefits increased by 2.5% due to the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

On average, retired workers receive around $2,000 per month, but family benefits can increase the total household income significantly.
